The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Tanzanian police have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in the fight against organised crimes and international terrorism. The BKA seconds liaison officers worldwide. Two liaisons officers are responsible for East Africa including Tanzania.

The BKA works in the project „Police Development Aid for East Africa” which aims at supporting the police in East Africa. The project enfolds specific training and equipment support for the police in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda as well as seminars on different areas of modern investigative police work such as crime scene investigation. As part of the training support seminars are held in cooperation with the Police Academy of Daressalam. In the field of equipment support equipment for crime scene investigation will be delivered to Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

In addition the BKA has been training scholarship holders in Germany for many years now. With its scholarship program the BKA strives for a worldwide network of criminal investigators in order to establish a close cooperation among one another. Familiarizing the scholars with the instruments and methods of modern investigative work significantly improves the coordinated fight against organised crime and international terrorism.
