Umoja House

Several European missions have their offices in the “Umoja House”: The Federal Republic of Germany, the Netherlands,Great Britain ,the Commission of the European Union and the British Development Agency (DFID), symbolizing the growing unification of the European countries and their common foreign policy. It is the only building worldwide to house four European missions under one roof.

Moreover, Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain maintain a common visa section in Umoja House.

The German Development Cooperations celebrated together the World AIDS Day 2010

Since 2005 the international motto of the World AIDS Day is STOP AIDS: Keep the promise and the slogan of 2010 is  "Act aware".

In this spirit, the German Development Cooperations in Tanzania designed an event in connection with the World AIDS Day around the topic of Home Based Care for AIDS patients. Home Based Care plays a great and important role in all AIDS activities in Africa and much of the care for people with HIV and AIDS is provided at home by immediate family and friends, as well as by home based care organizations.

The Office and its Past

The Foreign Office was deeply involved in the crimes of the Third Reich. This is revealed in a report by an international Independent Commission of Historians, who presented their study to Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle at the Federal Foreign Office on 28 October 2010. The Minister said the study would from now “play an essential role in the debates about the self-perception of the Federal Foreign Office and German diplomats”. He added that it was important to take the right steps now in response to the study’s findings on the Foreign Office’s involvement in Nazi crimes and on staff continuity after the Second World War.
